You know how good it feels once you’re actually out there. Your head goes a little quieter. You suddenly notice the air smells different, sharp and clear the way it only does in October. And the trees you walk past every day have changed color without asking you first.
And Netflix. And a phone most suitable for doom scrolling. And that strange moment when finding your shoes and getting out the door starts to feel like a fairly large project.
It’s not the big hikes we’re missing. It’s the small moments outside, on completely ordinary days.
And a reason to go.
So I’m giving you fifteen.
From October 12, you get one tiny mission a day that gets you outside. Not up a mountain. Each one takes about ten minutes, and you don’t need expensive Norwegian hiking trousers or a giant forest nearby.
It can be the tree outside your office. A bench. A small detour on the way home. Your coffee, carried out the door.
The point is to do something.
And maybe, day by day, to make the distance between the sofa and the outside a little shorter.

PS. Everybody does better outside. The problem is just getting there.
